API Connect Developer - Remote

Your expertise will be instrumental in designing RESTful APIs, implementing enterprise-grade security policies, and ensuring seamless connectivity across diverse systems and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

As an API Connect Developer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development and management of APIs, ensuring they meet business and technical requirements while adhering to industry best practices. Your core duties will include:

• API Development and Configuration: Design, develop, and configure APIs using IBM API Connect, leveraging RESTful principles to create efficient, scalable, and maintainable integration solutions.
• API Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete API lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment, versioning, and retirement, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and business objectives.
• Gateway Policy Implementation: Configure and manage API Gateway policies to enforce authentication, authorization, security protocols, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and traffic management, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
• Security and Compliance: Implement robust API security measures, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL, and other industry-standard mechanisms, to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate risks.
• API Documentation and Standards: Develop and maintain comprehensive API specifications using OpenAPI and Swagger, ensuring clarity and consistency for developers and stakeholders. Adhere to enterprise API design and governance standards to promote uniformity and scalability.
• Integration and Troubleshooting: Integrate APIs with backend applications, databases, middleware platforms, and external systems, resolving connectivity, performance, and integration challenges to ensure seamless interoperability.
• Monitoring and Support: Monitor API performance, traffic patterns, errors, and availability, proactively identifying and addressing issues to maintain high availability and reliability. Provide production support and resolve API-related incidents in a timely manner.
• Collaboration and Governance: Work closely with solution architects, developers, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to align API strategies with business goals. Participate in code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to development and governance standards.
• Developer Portal and Publishing: Support the API Developer Portal and publishing processes, enabling consumers to discover, subscribe to, and utilize APIs efficiently while maintaining governance and security controls.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities. The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field. A minimum of 6-8 years of hands-on experience in API management, API development, and enterprise integration is required.
• Technical Proficiency: Extensive practical experience with IBM API Connect, including API design, development, configuration, security policies, lifecycle management, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of REST API development, OpenAPI/Swagger, and API Gateway policy configuration is essential.
• Security and Integration: Proven experience in implementing API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, and TLS/SSL, as well as integrating APIs with enterprise applications, databases, and middleware. Familiarity with HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP web services, JSON, and XML is required.
• Lifecycle Management: Experience managing the API lifecycle across Development, UAT, and Production environments, including versioning, publishing, deployment, retirement, testing, defect resolution, and production support.
• Standards and Governance: Ability to follow established API design and security standards, participate in secure API design reviews, and adhere to enterprise development and change-management processes.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English for technical documentation, API specifications, troubleshooting, and collaboration with global teams. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is a strong asset for coordinating with local Saudi stakeholders and ensuring seamless communication.
