Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trade Finance Specialist to join our dynamic team in Riyadh. This full-time role offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining the flexibility of remote work with the collaborative benefits of on-site presence. The Trade Finance Specialist will play a pivotal role in structuring and managing trade finance instruments for international energy and petrochemical transactions, with a primary focus on letters of credit and associated documentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and validating trade documents, ensuring strict adherence to international trade rules and banking regulations, and coordinating seamlessly with banks, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to secure timely financing and payment flows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Trade Finance Instrument Management: Structure, negotiate, and manage trade finance instruments, including letters of credit, to facilitate smooth international transactions within the energy and petrochemical sectors.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Review, validate, and process trade documents with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring full compliance with international trade rules, banking regulations, and MAGHCO’s internal policies.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as a liaison between MAGHCO, external banks, suppliers, and internal teams to streamline communication, resolve discrepancies, and facilitate efficient payment and financing processes.
  • Risk Assessment and Advisory: Monitor transaction risk, provide expert advice to commercial teams on optimal trade finance solutions, and support contract negotiations from a financial perspective to mitigate risks and enhance profitability.
  • Process Improvement and Reporting: Identify opportunities to enhance trade finance processes, implement best practices, and contribute to the development of robust internal controls that support compliant and efficient trade operations. Prepare and present reports to senior management as required.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, logistics, legal, and finance teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of trade finance strategies across the organization.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Trade Finance Expertise: Proven experience in trade finance, with hands-on knowledge of trade finance structures, letters of credit, and related instruments.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of international trade rules and standards, including UCP 600, and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical scenarios.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong finance and business relationship management skills, with the ability to support commercial decision-making and foster productive stakeholder relationships.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience collaborating with banks, suppliers, and internal teams in cross-border transactions, preferably within the energy or petrochemical sectors.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. Professional certifications in trade finance or banking are highly desirable.
  • Technical and Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail in documentation and compliance matters.
  • Technological Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with trade finance or ERP systems to streamline processes and reporting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset.
  • Work Environment Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a hybrid work setting, manage multiple deadlines effectively, and uphold the highest ethical and professional standards.
