Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Testing & Commissioning Engineer to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by overseeing and executing comprehensive testing and commissioning activities in strict adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and approved procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for validating system performance, ensuring operational safety, and maintaining compliance with all applicable specifications.

Key Responsibilities

The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will be tasked with a diverse range of duties, including but not limited to:

• Substation Component Testing: Perform testing and operational checks on high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) substation components, including current transformers (CT), voltage transformers (VT), circuit breakers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and air-insulated switchgear (AIS) rated up to 132kV.
• System Configuration and Verification: Conduct plan reviews and implement necessary amendments for HV and extra-high-voltage (EHV) GIS and MV switchgear (SWGR) systems to ensure optimal functionality and alignment with project specifications.
• Protection Relay Testing: Configure and test a variety of protection relays, including but not limited to SEL411L, SEL487E, ABB RED670, Siemens 7SD, Schneider P546/P643, GE C70, and other relevant models, to validate their performance and reliability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to facilitate seamless project execution, ensuring that all testing and commissioning activities are coordinated effectively.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed test reports and documentation in compliance with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and Customer Service Department (CSD) standards, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Procedure Development: Assist in the preparation of test procedures, method statements, and reports to support project requirements and regulatory compliance.
• System Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections to verify system functionality, performance, and adherence to design specifications, identifying any deviations or potential issues.
• Commissioning Support: Provide technical assistance during commissioning phases, collaborating with senior engineers and project teams to resolve any challenges and ensure successful system activation.
• Issue Resolution: Identify technical issues during testing and commissioning, report them promptly, and support in their resolution to minimize project delays.
• Safety and Quality Assurance: Maintain rigorous adherence to safety protocols and quality standards throughout all testing and commissioning activities, ensuring a secure working environment and reliable system performance.
• Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of all testing and commissioning activities, including test results, observations, and corrective actions, for future reference and audit purposes.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in Testing & Commissioning within the electrical engineering domain.
• Certifications: Possession of relevant certifications, particularly those approved by the Customer Service Department (CSD), will be considered a significant advantage.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in testing and commissioning processes, with a strong understanding of HV/MV substation components and protection systems.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and robust problem-solving capabilities to identify and address technical challenges efficiently.
• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly and concisely to stakeholders at all levels.
• Time Management: Capacity to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality or safety.

Work Environment

The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will operate across various locations in Saudi Arabia, often in field environments. The role may involve travel to project sites, exposure to outdoor conditions, and adherence to strict safety protocols. Candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours as required to support project timelines and commissioning schedules.
