Legal Adviser

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Adviser to join our Legal Department within the Corporate Affairs division. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a strategic legal partner to the organization, providing expert guidance to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Your responsibilities will encompass safeguarding the company’s interests across business operations, contracts, disputes, and regulatory engagements, while proactively identifying and mitigating legal risks. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in corporate and commercial law, exceptional analytical capabilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of legal integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Legal Counsel: Deliver timely and insightful legal advice to senior management and internal stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making in alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure enforceability, minimize exposure to liabilities, and optimize business outcomes. This includes commercial contracts, employment agreements, and partnership arrangements.
• Regulatory Compliance: Oversee the company’s adherence to labor laws, commercial regulations, corporate governance standards, and industry-specific requirements. Conduct comprehensive audits to identify gaps and implement corrective measures.
• Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support: Manage legal disputes, claims, and litigation matters with diligence and strategic foresight. Collaborate with external legal counsel to resolve complex cases efficiently while protecting the company’s interests.
• Policy & Governance Oversight: Evaluate and refine company policies, procedures, and governance frameworks to ensure legal robustness and alignment with evolving regulatory landscapes.
• Employment & Labor Advisory: Provide expert guidance on employment-related matters, including disciplinary actions, terminations, and compliance with labor laws to mitigate legal exposure.
• Transaction Support: Facilitate mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and other strategic transactions by conducting due diligence, drafting transactional documents, and ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the process.
• Intellectual Property Protection: Safeguard the company’s intellectual property assets, including trademarks, copyrights, and confidential information, through proactive legal strategies and enforcement actions.
• Regulatory Representation: Act as the company’s authorized representative before government authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring accurate and timely communication of legal positions and compliance status.
• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct ongoing legal risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend proactive measures to mitigate exposure and enhance operational resilience.
• Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain meticulous legal records, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with statutory and internal requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. A Master’s Degree or professional legal certification (e.g., LLM, CPA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Licensure: Active license to practice law or eligibility under local regulatory frameworks is preferred.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive legal experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in corporate or commercial law within a corporate environment.
